We were notified this morning and are making you aware that Albertson’s is being acquired by Kroger. The deal will not be finalized until the companies go through the process established by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) which could take up to 18 months and that would bring us into 2024.
We are confident there won’t be any divestiture from the FTC because Kroger does not have a market presence in Local 360’s jurisdiction.
There will be no changes in the immediate future. Albertson’s and Kroger will remain competitors until it is made official. The Company has assured us we will proceed with contract negotiations for ACME North and Kings in 2023.
Understanding that you have been through this just a few years ago, know that UFCW Local 360 will be with you all the way. We will keep you posted on any official determinations via our website and eventually, regular shop steward meetings.
